Deb's Eco-Tip: Roust Those VOC's!
VOC's--chemical compounds found in fragrances--are carcinogens and neurotoxins. They are linked to respiratory problems, rashes, cancers, and even death. Air fresheners, cleaning products, lotions, shampoos, and perfumes are some sources of VOC's.
During winter especially, trapped VOC's increase indoor air pollution up to 1000 times the EPA safety level! Children, due to fast metabolisms and closeness to the floor, are most vulnerable. Elderly ones and pets are at risk too. What can we do?
Crack open some windows, keep air-filtering plants in main living areas and bedrooms, and switch to nontoxic, fragrance-free products.
